Quick review:
This film answers the age-old question what would happen if they made a gay film that was devoted almost entirely to the fag hag? And here you have it, from the man who wrote the screenplay to
Edge of Seventeen,
he steps out and writes and directs this film about Gypsy and her sidekick Clive. The two are best friends and both into the goth scene. Gypsy dreams of being a rock'n'roll singer and models her life after Stevie Nicks. Clive is living with his sister after a car accident claimed the lives of his older brother and parents. He's just beginning to feel comfortable as a gay man. He learns that there will be a 'Night of a 1,000 Stevies' contest in New York and convinces Gyspy in going with him so she can try and make her big break. Along the way, both will find love, or at least a good one-night stand. Here's my question: How many days does it take to drive from Cleveland to New York? This one takes three, which you really have to try hard to drive that slow. But, I'm being too literal. It's an interesting journey, but the gay boy's story is pretty much pushed aside so we can focus on Gypsy. Different, but it may not be what you want. Otherwise, it was entertaining.
