Synopsis:
A lesbian couple becomes the first to try an experimental procedure that turns stem cells into sperm so that they can raise their own biological child.
Quick review:
One aspect of gay life is absolute: Two men or two women cannot reproduce. Or can they? This mockumentary imagines a future where scientists can turn a woman's stem cells into sperm, allowing two women to be able to conceive a child together. Athena works in the lab that has discovered this technique and she decides with her wife, Lilith, to skip waiting for government approval and go ahead and be the first human couple to try it. A documentary film crew hears of it and documents the process, but it isn't long before they've worn out their welcome and Athena and Lilith are thinking that it was a terrible idea to bring them along. The drama intensifies when the couple decide to tell their families about the process. The strength of this film is the relationship between the two women. They are shown at their best and worst, farts and all. The families, of course, are crazy to keep things interesting. The film does take a surprising twist at the end, but just as things are getting gloomy, along comes the baby. I'm pretty certain science has proven that all the ills of the world can be cured by scenes with newborn babies in them.
