Quick review:
I promise, this is the last 1313 movie I'll add to Outfilms. My actor buddy Priyom Haider has a significant role in this one. He's been telling me that it's much different than past 1313 films. He was right, instead of pretty boys walking around the house in their underwear, we get muscle boys posing in their loinclothes. The house that plays a major role in the other 1313 films I've seen is gone (for obvious reasons). In this film, Athena worries that Hercules is unprepared for the challenges that await him. He's too arrogant and in desperate need of some humility. So she gathers the top warriors in the world and has them train at a special retreat. Soon, one of the warriors believes he's Hercules' equal and with the help of a jealous goddess he has a chance to defeat Zeus' son. On the plus side, you get lots of good looking muscle boys wrestling, posing, showing off their muscles. On the other hand, not sure why we're given lots of photos of the Parthenon in ruins. Wouldn't it have been in mint condition in Hercules' time? Why not use photos of the recreation in Nashville instead? The other negative for me was the dialogue felt very stilted. There are long pauses that are disrupting. It doesn't feel like a conversation. But no gay man is watching this film for the words. Muscles and loinclothes, yes. Dialogue, no.
